MARKETING FOR MANUFACTURING IN 2021

It was almost overnight that the Covid-19 pandemic changed how we would approach our marketing, business development and sales strategies. Gone were our face to face meetings, events and exhibitions cancelled, joining our colleagues to formulate our news, create blogs, collaborate on the latest developments, new products and current case studies.

Everything online, communication had changed in a heartbeat, but everyone moved very quickly, finding space for a home office, in some cases having to acquire new hardware, but doing a great job of adapting to our new virtual world.

I would say we may not have been expecting the amount of ZOOM and TEAMS calls we all started to attend, but I believe that has found a balance now and we have a more relaxed way of presenting and working together.

With regards to businesses, a much larger online audience has been made available to us with significant advantages to present our companies via Social Media, Video, Webinars, Online Events, Exhibitions, even Training and Support.

Creating material and writing the content can be a time-consuming activity, but right now it is a key factor in keeping you close to both your existing customers and developing new ones. This also may be time for an overhaul of the websites, blogs and maintaining continuity in our message, using social media to both present solutions, but also to engage with all key people in our community.

I read at the moment most of the key marketing teams are in favour of keeping things simple and fresh, people are still very busy and they don’t need to be stumbling around and navigating our websites, they want to obtain information or updates easily, if you do that and keep it coming, building your story, they will certainly return for more.

Business is still out there and as this year progresses, growth is returning and now with much more optimism. The last 12 months has allowed some time for reflection on current methodologies and how we achieve the best results, people re-evaluating their work life balance, going forward there is a determination to have technology work more productively, green and sustainable solutions are moving at pace, smart cities, smart factories have all accelerated, creating good new jobs and new opportunities. We are really upbeat for what the next few years will bring, keeping the good things and moving onto better.
